Culinary Disasters

Overall today has been a horrific experience for me as an amatuer chef. There are two more things I have blacklisted myself from ever doing.

1. Do not ever ever add WHIPPING CREAM into meals.
( It is freaking sweet plus disgusting.. Only to be used for cakes and
      pastries...)

2. Garlic should be added moderately if not fried beforehand. If not the
    taste will overpower everything else.
( Some peole hate the garlic although it is fragrant after frying till golden
     brown)

This actually isn't my first time having wrongly used whipping cream during my kitchen sessions. If I remember clearly, the first would be during my fifth form. I decided to make Carbonara pasta on that beautiful day as lunch for my sis, cousin and I. It was a new recipe for me as the ingredients and procedures were quite complicated. I failed to purchase heavy cream at supermarkets anywhere so I came up with a cool idea of butter-fy my whipping cream. Based on the statistics of fat percentage, I made little modifications to transform the whipping cream into a heavy cream. The result was quite satisfying I dare say. However, I forgot one simple thing about whipping cream - THEY ARE SWEET. So I went on with the recipe without tasting the sauce I made..... Until serving time of course. My sister was my guinea pig and she was shocked by the super sweet sauce. It then occured to me that whipping cream is sweet and there goes the entire meal. I thought I had made a mental note about it since then. Looks like I forgot again today.

Today I invited Steven over for lunch. We both decided on mashed potatoes and mushroom soup. I had earlier found a recipe, went to the supermarket and got all my ingredients. The same thing repeated itself. The best was that both dish has a large amount of whipping cream in it. The results again - super sweet. Further more was that I added a little too much garlic into my mushroom soup that it literally became garlic soup. During the process to rescue it, I added whipping cream and all hell broke loose. Nothing was left edible; maybe only the prawn crackers my mom bought home and the plain toast bread.

After these catastrophe, I have decided on the blacklisting. Although it was a complete failure, it was fun to mess up the kitchen. But hell not fun to clean it back again. I guess we gotta always clean up our own mess, so don't make so much in whatever you are doing.

Just came back from Thain dinner at a restaurant near my place. The meal was satisfying and now I am filled. This will be it for today, I'm a little tired from certain activities today... Haha... Only 2 people in the entire world kow about this. Its nothing dirty okay? Please cleanse any murky thought you were having. ^^

See ya. Btw, interviews tomorrow. Wish me luck.

2012

This show has official ripped me off my seat. It was that fantastic that during the entire two and a half hour, I did not feel even a tingle bit sleepy. In fact, what it did was make me SUPER HIGH now. So, here I am, sleepless due to after effects of this great movies. The graphics were clearly first class with cooler than James Bond like actions. It is like Mother Nature has finally thrown her tantrum on us after all the warning she gave. I am still awed by the beauty of the destruction brought forward eventhough I'm supposed to be terrified, just like that "crazy" Charlie on the mountain. The thoughts of this even occuring in the near future sent chills down my spine.

As I see parents desperately calms their children, trying to rekindle lost relationship and wanting them nothing else but be safe. Why is it when something is about to occur when we finally use our heads and think? Will the world really end this way? Why is it that we cannot comprehend such a possibility and start taking actions starting from now? Must we really see death with ours eyes before we feel regret?

I saw the chaos humanity was in due to their selfishness, thank God not all of them are that way. By using money, you buy life. Money is everything, isn't it? But by doing so, you have placed a value on lives which are meant to be priceless. I laughed at that fat ex-boxer as he lost his life after abandoning his girlfriend, yet touched but how desperate he was to get his children to safety. Does this show that humanity has dual nature which only comes forth at dire situation?

I think I'm gonna watch this movie a couple more times, on a good quality dvd of course. Its just that amazing for me. I don't think I could digest everything that was thrown at me.... I might need second or third replay after all... I guess thats all...

Good night peeps.

HEADACHE

Today was one word.. "Headache"

Its been a week since my headache. I've never had this so long before. Usually its just a short while and it does not come too often. Now, it's bugging me on a daily basis, if not hours. Someone help me. My head is gonna split like a banana soon. What did I do to deserve this? Is this the aftereffect of my exams? Or is something else wrong with my body. It's is so torturing and I feel like puking all the time. I gotta do something to get it right coz I have a movie waiting for me tonight. Its 2012 and I sure feel like the last person on Earth who hasn't watched it after reading all your blogposts. I wanna get better.. Please.... (watery eyes praying towards the open sky)

I'll update if I have the energy when I return from the show. It starts at 9.00pm and ends at 11.30pm. See ya peeps.

Genting Nov 09, Part 2

After the meal, we split up again and this time, we headed off to the bowling arena. With the seven of us, excluding the couple who went to the arcade, we had a game of six. Due to the lack of lanes, we shared one lane for the six games. One word to describe the game is “FUN”. We started off like beginners for the warm up and the competition gets intense. Then one of the girls made a bet that the loser had to buy everyone ice cream. LOL... And what do you know, she ended up losing. But the best part was when another girl thought her bf won the game but to only realised....

I WON!!!! =)

Haha.... Her expression shifted from “ Yay!!!=) ” to “ Cheh...=( ” Sorry kay, I didn’t know I had a chance of winning, pure luck... Nothing else... After the game the whole lot of us went for a little photoshoot out at the spot where I had my afternoon breeze. We had fun and some chill in the evening air. The pictures are all not with me that is why the last of pics in this post. Most probably I’ll get them back by February next year so you guys and girls will have to wait...=) After everything, we headed back to our hotels to prepare the next surprise.

I had made 2 tiramisu cakes for my friends to celebrate a belated birthday for the lone ranger as mentioned before. After much arrangements and arguments, everything went just nice... We waited for him to come and then....

“Happy Birthday to you...”

started the birthday song. There was a little surprise as they finished with his name, they moved their attention to me... LOL... My birthday was during the exams so they decided to celebrate it together now. I admit to be a little surprise but somehow the girls made a little mistake leading me to suspect the plot. Haha... But thanks everyone for the effort put in, I am very happy with the present you gave me. Thank you gals!!!

We sat down cut the cake and enjoyed the little “not too cold” tiramisu cake but the texture was still fine. Then came the game of UNO and a pair of couple had to leave early due to her morning class the following day. The game took up an hour due to our incapability to finish one game... LOL... Most of us were already dead tired but we decided for another activity before heading to bed.

~Coffee time~

With our sloppy mind and sluggish body we went down to Starbucks for a drink. I had Green Tea Latte due to certain someone’s liking. The funny thing was most of us couldn’t finish our drink before falling asleep on the bench so we headed up to sleep. The rest of it was a blur to me as I was only in half consciousness...

~The Next Day~

I had a good night I guess, and my mood was back to normal. It was seven when I first woke up, then dozed off back to sleep after chatting about my alarm ring tone or somesort. The next time I woke up it was 8.15am, so I went for a quick shower and started cutting the second box of tiramisu for breakfast. We agreed to have breakfast at 8.45 but since the lone ranger had to go queue up for tickets of the 2012, he ate his share first. There were some cookies I brought up, some biscuits and maggi mee cups. After eating he went to get us tickets for the movie, which by then only had the girls and others started arriving. Due to the great expenses we had on the first day we had to rely on the magi cups and tiramisu to fill our tummies. This is what happen when you have bad financial control.LOL. Nevertheless, we still had fun eating in our room, with all our closest friends nearby.

After keeping everything away, the monkey who slept the same bed as me went back to sleep. OMG, he is such a pig, but since I couldn’t resist, I too follow suit. Haha... Later the lone ranger called to inform that the tickets were sold out even at such an early morning. Holy cow.... I told him to hold on a second and we’ll be right down, but the truth is we surely took our time. By the time we went down, we decided to hit the arcade. Most of them went and play but I was coming down with a cold already. Excusing myself from the group I went for a walk with him to cool my headache. It’s getting frequent nowadays and I sure am not liking it a single bit. The rest of the days seemed like me in tantrums, I guess one can be mean when not feeling well. Not that I mean one has the rights to be mean, its just the tendency, especially if I don’t get what I want.

I was almost late for the bus yesterday, giving me a headache. The weather wasn’t nice and I didn’t spend enough time playing the outdoors. I didn’t get to eat fast food.LOL.... I didn’t get to play snooker. I didn’t buy a ring, or a necklace. And many others which I intended to play. However looking back now, I realised I had fun and the trip was worth it. I had all my friends there accepting who I really am. How much grateful can I be for the entire trip? I was immature to not have thought that before or I might have even a greater time.

I later had my lunch with him at Sushi King before leaving the highland. Those bloody waiters there dare not admit that their sauce is spoilt as it was sour. Being one who has taken sushi on a near weekly basis, I could definitely tell something was off despite the cold I had. Since we had no mood to argue, we let the incident slip by just as it is. A little walk around the Genting Resort and off we are to the Skyway Upper Terminal.

The ride down was again funny as he trembled with fear. I pity him a little but I guess it’s not everyday you can see him shake so much. Then later came the free food tasting at the lower terminal. This time I help myself with enough of cuttlefish to fill my tea serving. I believe I had walk the entire place at least four rounds but I still could not get enough of them. He was sincere in wanting to buy some home to KL but time wasn’t going to wait for him so he had to abandon the thought. Later came the separation between friends as we went on our ways. Couples had their final say before they left each other momentarily. I guess they gotta come up with a plan to make it easier for themselves. I guess I’m counted lucky enough. I went back to college to return some of the things I borrowed from my lecturers before heading home. I dined out today at the noodle shop again.

LOL... NOODLES AGAIN..... Then was home I went and zzzzz......

I guess that’s all for my trip, although it might be boring for you, to me its priceless. You gotta be there to experience the value. It cannot simply be felt through words by others. I sincerely thank all my friends who went there and it was certainly fun hanging out with you guys and girls. THANK YOU..... May everything in your future be successful despite any obstacle you may initially face.

Genting Nov 09 Part I

This is where I've spent nearly 2 days with some of the greatest people I've known in college as our farewell trip. The planning, I've done have gone back for nearly a month.

The morning of the day started off like any other or as I've thought. Until I knew something was terribly amiss. I couldn't get through his phone. He hasn't woke up which by this time he should already have. I panicked already early in the morning with an empty tummy. Taking all I had I dialled his number with my life on the line. LoL, maybe I'm a little over dramatic but hell yes I was panicking, for the first time in a very long while. I hitched a ride up to his apartment 5 minutes away in my dad's Innova after plenty of nagging and frustration.

Upon reaching his place I realised I had no plan whatsoever on my mind. I ran to his block took a lift up to his floor with the lucky help of a resident exiting the condo early in the morning. His was at the top floor so it took hell long to reach the top although in fact was only seconds. Reaching his door, I tried ringing the bell but to my disappointment was in no good condition. I took a nearby umbrella from another condo unit and tried knocking then... No reply, DARN I'm dead. Or actually he's dead (I'll kill him later...LOL) I even tried consulting a young auntie’s advice on how I can reach the unit he was living in - GUARD HOUSE was all she gave... With frustration piling up i took the hellish long lift ride down to ground floor to seek for further assistance. At the guard hose, they were pretty helpful compared to what I had in mind. They tried to inter-com the condo until but to no avail. As my final resort, I dialled the number of one of his friends in the same unit for help. It was sure embarrassing to ask someone help to wake up that pig. I'm sure the day would be better off afterwards but little did I know how narrowly wrong I was. In a couple of minutes he called my cell and I was ordering him to be ready in 5 minutes or we'll definitely be late. ( I guess I was kind of unreasonable but I was already pissed off by that time..)

~10 minutes later~

Where the hell is that bloody ********!!!! ( OK I was majorly pissed off that time although not anymore...) He still hasn't come down yet so I started come down yet. OMFG! He later appeared with an all too apologetic face. Sigh, too bad I wasn't ready to forgive just yet. Cold treatment for 1 minute then followed by the blankets of carpet bombs. Finally someone has seen me when I am truly ruthless, but I just didn't have the heart to give it all out... What happens if he break...LOL.. Anyway, back at my place I gave it a quick shower then his turn. I went and styled my hair but due to my explosive nature at the moment, my hair turned out wilder than it should... LOL....

OMFG I'm running out of time!!!!

It's already 7.30am and I'm still at home. My bus is scheduled at 8 am and how the hell amI supposed to get there in time. The best thing would be that all my friends’ tickets are with me. 10 bus tickets amounting to RM 50 if I do not reach there in time would go to waste and not to mention the extra money I will have to fork out due to my fault. The day gets worse and worse I guess and my freaking headache is bugging me all the way, deteriorating my mood further as the clock ticks by. Somehow he managed to calm me down on the way and we figured out a solution.

~7.50am~

I've reached Melati station, hopped off his car and sped my way to the LRT station. Lucky me for I need not queue up to purchase a ticket from that all too sluggish ticket-er (what do you call them already? Argh... screw it... moving on..) I just made it in time for the departing train; there goes my effort to style my hair. I never knew this one station could take so long, I was feeling agitated the whole short 60 seconds journey.

~7.55am~

I succeeded in arriving before the bus leaves the station. After handing over some of the tickets, documents and vouchers I told my friend to go on ahead. “My other friend” and I will head up on the next ride. I guess my problems are partially over when my friends manage to board the bus. NEXT!!!! I went to the counter and after a long chat and finding some small cash for the lady in charge; I bought the next ride at 9am. That aunty was such a bitch, she insisted I spend at least RM 5 at her stall or she won’t exchange small change for my fifty bucks.... (F*** you bitch! You’re supposed to help someone in need not take advantage. Disappointed... btw this aunty is the one left to the ticket counter selling tidbits at Terminal Putra LRT station)

Upon finishing my business had I only realised another group of TARCians from BIO class could not get on the bus despite having the 8am bus tickets. Apparently some middle aged pigs went and screw up the whole seating plan. Well I guess I’m not the only one out of luck. The remaining hour consist of him trying to cool me down with little or no luck

~9.00am~

Finally boarding the train, I was partially relieved. The best thing was when I was boarding the bus, the other group of TARCians were astonished that I could hop on the bus. I was like “Why not? I have the 9 am bus ticket” which left them stunned. Apparently they did not purchase the next ride’s tickets and was hoping for there to be extra seats to accommodate all 10 of them. That at least put a smile on my face as I knew I did something correct for the entire blundering morning. The ride up was more sort of a total headache and dizzy-filled. However, things were about to change as we reached the Skyway lower terminal.

He was busy testing out “giam sui di” or something like that at a duty free shop selling all kinds of cuttlefish, sweets, prunes and dried fruits. There are tonnes of samples there but I wasn’t in any mood to be food-testing around, therefore making my way to the skyway cable car station as swift as I can. Here comes the fun part as we boarded the gondola with only another aunty sitting back facing us. He was extremely terrified as our journey on cables began. I would say this is so far the most memorable ride on the cable car to Genting as I’ve finally found someone more afraid of heights than I am. He was pouting, shaking, shivering, a little screaming and nearly in tears due to –

Afraid of Heights

He curled up into a ball and did not budge the slightest as we ascended up Genting Highland. The scenery was remarkable as usual with the soothing green surroundings and chilly fresh morning mist. I always preferred colder weathers over hot ones as my hairstyle would need lesser maintenance. It was a short 20 minutes ride which I am sure was hellish for him, but by the time we reached the top, my anger subdued after the hilarious ride. Hungry as we were, we went searching for FOOD when he suggested we tried out “HOU MEI”, one of the frequent restaurants he visited while at Genting.

However their Western menu has been rid off leaving us with only choices of noodles. The meal was average in comparison to the pricing but I guess the customer service is still satisfying. Finishing the meal, we headed to the lobby to check in to the hotel. We have been assigned a number 00190 on which the receptionist suggest we come back later around half past one. Following her advice, we deposited our luggage at the bellboy counter and headed for the theme park.

I guess GOD really is helping him because there was already a steady downpour greeting our exit from the building. Heading to the counter to buy two all park access tag in hope for a better weather in the afternoon we went. In the end, we only managed a few simple rides of Merry-Go- Around and the ferry wheel.

Nevertheless it was enjoyable with those closest college friends. The rest of the day was wet causing an increase in the crowd indoors. There was however a sequence of events known to only those who went for the trip which I had planned for some time. Slightly embarrassing but relieved that some amount of truth is finally revealed to those dear to me; they were very accepting and it definitely made my day. This part will only revealed to certain people so do ask me personally but if I reject your request, fear not coz the problem lies not with you.

After transferring the luggage from the counter to the room, three of the girls decided to have a quick nap while the rest of us went for late lunch you could say. Again everyone had noodles at a noodle shop and ain’t I ever so glad that they serve rice too... Yipee... I ordered a honey roasted chicken with plain rice. My choice was the best of all since I made no complaint while the others, well.... They weren’t exactly satisfied with theirs. Moving on we split up into 2 groups of pairs and a lone ranger. He left before we could invite him with us. Having nothing specific on our mind, we headed for the new 4D mini-theatre set up near the exit of First World Plaza. Any f***ing long queue I dare say! From the entrance it looks empty but as soon as we entered, we knew this could take a while. Little did we know a while isn’t that short after all coz the management had a very misleading idea by setting up a spiral queue separated by wall to give a false impression. We ended up waiting for nearly an hour before reaching the end of it. Then what? A 10 minutes low budgeted 4D clip before exiting the theatre. WTF was all I could say for all the sweat I had to pour and definitely the dizziness which bugged me through the entire process. He was not exactly feeling too well too after the movie so we headed back for a quick shower to refresh ourselves.

Back at the hotel, my unit was empty as the other guy went to sleep in the girls room, he forgot to take the key card from me. Both of us went lay down and chit chat for some time before heading for a shower. The hot bath did some good to my headache and I felt tonnes better than before, it was then a short half an hour nap before the girls called. Did I mentioned I like sleeping half naked as I like the cold? =) Quickly put up some decent clothes and off we were to rendezvous with the girls. Maybe I was still sleep so I couldn’t recall the exact chronograph of the events. I remembered there was a buffet, a walk in the chilly breeze before a bowling and some picture taking.

I guess I’ll just go at any order I can recall of. We went down the both of us and had a walk in the freezing afternoon due to the endless rain. The girls were having some time at the arcade so the both of us went for some fresh air. The entire outdoor theme park was closed, which is a great disappointment but the weather is still to my liking. We went to the furthest end where the crowd is minima and sat down to enjoy the misty afternoon with little raindrops. As the mystifying blanket of ice wrapped around my body in addition to the howling winds, I stood up and embrace it all. The feeling was slightly orgasmic, okay... only a little...LOL.. He was starting to freeze already despite the denial so after a couple of minutes, we went back to the warmth of the indoors. The pair of couple was already hungry so we went along for a steamboat buffet for only RM19.90 which was considerably cheap at Genting. The other lone ranger tagged along as well. We wasted nearly two hours feasting on whatever they have there. Some of my favourite includes pan fried wanton which was very crispy, the sweet soup after all the added ingredients and MEAT. I am a meat lover, and I absolutely crave nearly cooked meat. With its tender texture, juicy oily gravy and a little taste of the remaining blood I took hell lot of a serving than I would usually do. I know it’s bad for my health, which is why I do not usually indulge in these kinds of meals. Other than that, the atmosphere was nice plus I have a great bunch of friends to chat with, while eating of course....

R E B I R T H

Hello its been a while...
I was busy...
It was hectic...
I was lazy...

Thinking back the times we had...
Time flies without a bell...
Coz Secondary school no more...
Now College has passed too...

Happy...
Horny...
(mind me..LOL)
Regret...
Relieved...
Anxious...
Awesome...
All in one, and I am one...

With a smile I say goodbye...
With a smile I welcome the new..
For all the tears and prayers..
Ban't bring back the times we had..

It's the new me now...
With another crazy hair...
This one a little costy...
But it'll definetly be my last...

NO MORE SHORT HAIR

Coz its so not funky square

Today marks the day of my blog's revival from a long term coma due to several causes such as laziness, procrastination and hectic study life. There goes my A2 papers as the Further Maths Applied is taken away. Its the start..... of my long break... from books and exams. After having a game of pool or 2, or 3... or more. Anyways, I went over to have dinner with someone. A long chat as I savour my pizzas, garlic breads and mushroom's soup. It definetly has been quite a while since I last dine here at Pizza Hut. How many can smile all days serving customers of all moods? How many can remain diligent after a hard day of work? When everyone unwinds but they serve still... with a smile on their face. Waitress and waiters, I usually find their attitude disappointing but today I guess I'm satisfied. Or maybe I'm just in the right mood. He was tired from a hard day work so we took our time and enjoy the meal as we chat along any topics that pops up in our mind. Then home we went and now I am here...LOL
In college today, I was shy... And I guess so was he.

He said "hi", I didn't notice....
I said "hi", He didn't notice...
SHY.... and no words else were spoken....
Through sms-es we laughed at our silliness...
Through misunderstanding we thought...
Why can we converse without hesitation...
Yet upon face to face we shrink....
I wasn't refering to our balls okay...

I guess that sums up my day for the moment. Gonna relax a bit before the next fight arrives. Two days time and I'll be up Genting again. Iheard the bio students will be on the same bus. Such unplanned coincidence - a favourite phrase of my mum. LOL again.

Tata... go chatting =)
