MALACCA TRIP @ 24/04/2010

Hello my dear readers, I apologize profoundly for abandoning my blog for such a long time. I have been pretty lazy recently but realizing that there are readers who actually look forward to my ramblings, I shall put in a little effort then. Here goes nothing... =)

I hate doing nothing on weekends so last Saturday I went on a day trip to Malacca. Waking up early was part of the plan so that we could make it for breakfast in Malacca. "DIM SUM" it is then, as Steven said the price there are much lower than the ones in KL. The 2 hours drive there was fun and refreshing filled with our "beautiful" voices as we sang along favourite songs. As some of you all might know, I have zero talent in singing....
Terrible voice.... Hahaha...

DIM SUM PLACE ~

A glass of plain tea~

Prawn Dumplings~

You must be wondering why there aren't any photos right?
The reason is actually very simple....
We we're too hungry we decided to skip the photo-taking part and focused on eating instead.
Overall I'd say the food was only mediocre but cheaper than KL.

After the meal we headed off to the zoo... the Malacca Zoo...
I wonder how long ago has it been since I've last went to a zoo. There's again a very simple reason why I dislike going to the zoo. Don't get me wrong, I am a nature and animal lover and I absolutely adore cute little things. Hehe... Well it's the HEAT you see, I can't stand it. It makes me sweat madly and I feel all sticky and uncomfortable. I believe the only zoo I truly enjoyed was the one in the winter during my China trip.
I need not tell you the reason why I enjoyed it right? =)

White birdie~

By the way there was this bunch of birdies which imitated human voice quite well but they don't look like parrots. I wonder what they are. One of them started imitating the Muslim prayers while another greeted in Malay. The one that freaked me out was a scary laugh that sent shiver down my spine. Very very disturbing~

Too HOT. Photo-taking decreased dramatically~

Our close relative

Sun Bear sunbathing on a tree branch~

This cute but pitiful monkey looked like it was in jail.
which in a way it is of course.
Those sad eyes ~

Mama and baby elephant

Smaller gator~

This is a bamboo rat~
Cute but not cute

Okay by now I'm drenched in sweat and I'm very hungry. You wanna know why? We travelled some distance to a Portugese restaurant to realize it opens at night only. After that Steven said we should try finding his little god-brother who lives in Malacca. That took hours and lunch was postponed to 330 pm.

OMG!!! I"M STARVING....

Another weird thing is... in Malacca, most restaurants have rest hour between 230 and 530 pm so it was kinda hard for me to find lunch. Finally decided on a cafe called Friendster cafe~ Go figure the name ~ LOL

Honeydew to quench the thirst

Fried rice

Cappuccino?

French toast

After that was more eating at Jonker street.

Durian Cendol

It was kinda disappointing as I was looking forward to this.
Not much of the durian syrup, let alone flesh.
Too sweet and ended up not finishing the bowl of dessert.

The rest of the day consist of more eating before heading back home at
630pm.  Parent's insist on returning home early. Sigh... Over-protected...
Overall the trip was fun and could do better without the HEAT...

That's all for now. =)
